ICC WORLD CUP 2019

Cricket world cup is one of the biggest cricketing tournaments followed around the globe. It is highly followed and affectionate event all over the world and it is often assumed to be a speedily rising fever amongst not only youngster but in people belonging to every age group.

The tournament of the cricket world cup is the grandest of all, where all teams fight with each other over the title of being the best performer the cricket match of 50 overs. The tournament recured in England which is the land of its origin in the year 2019.

England

was performing as the hosts to the world cup tournament. Previously England hosted this prime tournament in 1999 and it was one of the most flourishing tournaments, which were evident of many twists and turns. Australia then emerged as the champions in the final competition. Earlier for the 2015 world cup England and Wales placed a combined bid. Although after Australia was beaten out by a joint Asian bid for the 2011 tournament, they were offered the hosting rights in 2015.

England and Wales assured the rights to 2019 if they mutually accept to withdraw their 2015 bid, which they accepted willingly. So, the 2019 ICC cricket cup was the 12th cricket world cup, an event of one-day international cricket tournament organized every 4 years. Which male national teams take part and is organized under the responsibility and supervision of International cricket council.

It was arranged during i.e. 30th May to 14 July across 11 venues in England and wales. It was the fifth time England was hosting the world cup while for wales it was third time, they were hosting the ICC world cup. In this gracious tournament 10 teams contested; this number of teams was decreased from 14 teams the previous edition with the format of the tournament changing to a single round-robin group with the top four teams qualifying through to the knockout stage.

The finally announced teams were Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri-Lanka. The rest of the two teams were West Indies and Afghanistan. All teams played each other in a full round robin format with the top four teams qualifying to the semi-finals and the winners contesting the CWC final. The whole tournament was full of turns, twists, emotions, and fun. The supporters of every team flew enthusiastically to the grounds in their favorite team matches accordingly. It was a well attractive sports festival for all the people worldwide especially for the nations whose teams were taking part in the matches.

The start of the tournament from the Oval stadium to the end at the old Trafford. The knock out stage of the cricket world cup 2019 consisted of two semifinals. These matches were played at Old Trafford in Manchester on July 9 and in Birmingham on 11 July, the same venues as the 1999 semifinals.

First was between India and New Zealand in which New Zealand defeated India and the other was between England and Australia which was won by England.

The final of ICC world cup 2019 was played at Lord’s on 14 July between the two finalist ENGLAND and New Zealand. It was the third time Edgbaston hosted a World Cup semi-final and the fourth at Old Trafford – a record for a World cup venue. On this elite evening, England won the cup graciously.

The cricket world cup 2019 was accomplished finally, but it left many questions Behind and ICC had to face criticism from many directions. For example, why ICC could not make it possible for the matches being played in a 100% peaceful environment and why some events of collapse and quarrels were allowed to happen at that time. The flag waved by an aero plan against Pakistan during the match between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

More improvements and responsible attitude of ICC are required for better and enjoyable cricket events in the next ICC world cups, so, more security measures should be taken in the future. Another controversy also arose after the accomplishment of the world which was relevant to the rule of Super over. It was then considered by ICC and they revised the rule. They have added that after one super over if it gets tied, another super over would be given to get a free and fair decision. Other revisions have also been made for the improvements and better experiences in the fields of cricket.
